Army veteran is guest speaker at business networking group

Gemma Moore served in the army for 12 years and for three years she was the only female in a squadron of over 200 men.

After 12 years, she swapped the military boots for the world of financial sales and worked for an Asset Finance Broker.

Now, Gemma will share her story with delegates of the Hartlepool-based Women What Do network which is open to female business bosses from across the Hartlepool area.

Gemma is the guest speaker at the group’s latest meeting on Wednesday, February 24. She will describe the lessons she’s learned.

The meeting runs from 5.30pm to 7pm at the Truly Scrumptious Coffee Shop, which is based in the Hartlepool Enterprise Centre, which is in Brougham Terrace, in Hartlepool.

The cost to join in the meeting is £10 and there will be refreshments including tea, coffee and cake.

Representatives of Truly Scrumptious will also be sharing their cake decorating tips.

The Women What Do network is open to women who:

l Own or manage a business;

l Are self-employed or freelance;

l Work in their family business;

l Are managers in voluntary sector organisations including charities and social enterprises;

l Work within the public sector but have an interest in economic development;

l Are thinking about setting up a business.

Women What Do was first set up as a chance for females to get together in an informal atmosphere and discuss common issues and share ideas over wine and nibbles.

The group’s ethos is to focus on providing information from a range of sources to help businesses survive and flourish.

Organisers say they understand that running a business is hard work and can often leave bosses feeling isolated.

But they say Women What Do is a place where people can offload problems and share solutions.
