Drive-thru Costa Coffee plans submitted for Hartlepool Marina

Plans have been submitted for a new drive-thru Costa in Hartlepool.

A top coffee chain is set to open a drive-thru cafe in Hartlepool.

Developers have submitted a planning application for a Costa Coffee branch in the Highlight Retail Park at Hartlepool Marina.

The plans include altering the site's car park and building a new single-story unit on the western side of the retail park.

The building designs were submitted to Hartlepool Council by architects The Harris Partnership Ltd, on behalf of ACE Hartlepool Retail Ltd, which owns the land.

The firm said the plans fitted in with the council's Vision masterplan to regenerate Hartlepool.

The application reads: "The marina area, where the Highlight Retail Park is based, is among eight key areas of the town targeted in the Vision as the focus of work to breathe new life and bring new jobs into Hartlepool in the coming years."

Sketches in the planning application clearly show the sloped-roof unit featuring Costa Coffee branding.

The plans will now be considered by planning officers before a final decision is made by councillors.
