Staincliffe hotel company goes into liquidation

A company that ran The Staincliffe Hotel has gone into liquidation.

Darwin Hotels Ltd was made the subject of a winding up order at an insolvency court in Leeds on March 8.

The Staincliffe, at The Cliff, Seaton Carew, is now trading under another company name which owner Brian Morton is also part of.

Mr Morton is also owner of Sports Domes, which was hit by closure this week but has now reopened. Read more.The Insolvency Service said the Official Receiver has been told that the new traders will honour pre-existing contracts for future functions, such as weddings that have already been paid for.

It added: “Those who have previously paid monies to Darwin Hotels Ltd and believe themselves to be a creditor of Darwin Hotels Ltd should submit any claims to the Official Receiver at Newcastle.”

Mr Morton said there had been a restructure of the whole group.

He said: “People’s existing contracts are secure and there is no difference to what has been offered in the past. Should anyone have any concerns just phone up the hotel.”
