Caring school pupils and staff help keep people fed through winter
Pupils and teachers at Wellfield Community School in Wingate dedicated a whole month to collecting all sorts of food for Peterlee Foodbank for he third year running.
An estimated six wheelie bins worth of food was brought into school which has been given to the charity to help make sure nobody goes hungry over Christmas and the New Year.

Hide AdThe fantastic effort was co-ordinated by Wellfield’s Year 7 Most Able and Talented pupils.
Teacher Antony Pearson, Most Able and Talented Coordinator, said: “It’s terrible that there are children out there going hungry going into 2020.
“This is probably the most food we have collected in the three years we have been doing it.
“Our catchment area isn’t particularly affluent so it is just a brilliant effort.”
