Motorists face delays after car catches fire in Hartlepool

Motorists using two busy roads faced delays after firefighters were called out to tackle a car fire.

Hartlepool Fire Brigade were alerted to reports of a vehicle on fire at around 2pm on Tuesday, April 13, near the Stag and Monkey pub, close to the junction of Belle Vue Way and Brenda Road, in Hartlepool.

Firefighters put out the blaze by 3pm and it is unknown at this time what started the blaze.

The incident, however, did cause a backlog of traffic along the main A689.

A spokesperson for Hartlepool Community Fire Station said afterwards: “We attended a car fire on Brenda Road around 2pm this afternoon.

"The fire was extinguished by 3pm.”

The fire service spokesperson confirmed that Cleveland Police and the North East Ambulance service did not attend.

Nobody is thought to have been injured in the incident and the road was later cleared so that any tailbacks could ease.
