'Unexplained death' in Hartlepool - police confirm body found at Hartlepool Rovers rugby club

Officers were called to Hartlepool Rovers’ New Friarage ground in West View Road on the morning of Sunday, September 6.
A club spokesman said at the time that he was unable to confirm details but added: “There has been a serious incident at the club, which is being dealt with, and the police are in attendance.”

Hide AdNow Cleveland Police have confirmed an investigation is under way into the death of a man and have appealed for anyone who may be able to help to come forward.
A force spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a man’s body found at around 10.40am this morning, Sunday 6th September, in the grounds of Hartlepool Rovers Rugby Football Club.
“Officers believe that they know the identity of the man and his family have been informed, although formal identification is yet to take place.
“Specialist officers are supporting the man’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time.

Hide Ad“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post mortem examination will be carried out to try to establish the cause of the man’s death.”
Police would be interested to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of the Rugby Club in the early hours of this morning and may have seen a male in the area to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 145762.
