Boro have identified several targets in the last few weeks, including Wigan frontman Kieffer Moore who would cost around £2million and is also being tracked by Championship rivals Cardiff.
Warnock has also said it will be difficult to find better players than current frontmen Ashley Fletcher and Britt Assombalonga, but admitted he may need ‘utility players’ to deal with a congested fixture list.
Boro are also monitoring the free agent market after several players were released or decided not to sign new deals at the end of last season.
