Tottenham Hotspur have shown an interest in Middlesbrough youngster Djed Spence – with the full-back a long-term target of Jose Mourinho.

The Evening Standard claim that Spence, who has been a regular under Jonathan Woodgate, caught the eye of Mourinho during his time at Fulham – where he played alongside his son.

And having seen the full-back at close proximity during the 1-1 draw between Spurs and Middlesbrough, Mourinho is now weighing-up whether to make a move for the promising youngster.

The Tottenham boss made a point of congratulating Spence on his individual performance following the FA Cup stalemate and Spurs could now launch a bid for the Boro man.

However, Woodgate is keen to keep hold of the youngster – and is hoping the offer of a new five-year contract could sway his decision-making.

Spence still has 18 months to run on his current deal at the Riverside Stadium.
