The Channel 4 reality programme is currently casting for local contestants ahead of filming in the region in July.

Budding cooks and hosts from the town are being invited to apply for a chance of 15 minutes of fame and possibly win £1,000 in prize money.

Producer Sasha Risner said: “We are filming two episodes in the North East from July 19 to 23 and are actively looking for cooks and hosts at the moment.

Come Dine With Me is filming in the Hartlepool area in July and is appealing for budding cooks to apply to be on.

"We’re looking for fun, energetic, bubbly people who aren’t going to be wall flowers and able to mix with people who come from all walks of life.

"You don’t have to be am amazing cook but do have to have a passion for cooking.”

Filing will take place at an independent location and all filming will take place under strict Covid guidelines including social distancing.

Although applicants could end up winning £1,000 for being chosen the best cook and getting the highest score, Sasha said the cash is almost irrelevant to the experience.

Come Dine With Me has run on Channel 4 since 2005 and is known for its colourful contestants and narrator David Lamb’s humorous remarks.

Anybody interested in applying can get in touch with the makers at the Come Dine With Me Facebook page, head to bit.ly/cdwm2021 online or email: [email protected]

Participants must be aged at least 18 years of age.
