Hartlepool Stage Society announces details for Shrek the Musical
An award-winning theatre group is set to bring their version of a smash West End hit to the Hartlepool stage.
Hartlepool Stage Society has announced its upcoming production of Shrek the Musical, coming to Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre later this month.
Performers say the delightfully offbeat fairy-tale adventure promises to bring big heart, roaring humour, and unforgettable musical numbers to audiences.
The show comes as the stage society looks to continue a stellar streak of performances.

In the most recent National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) Awards, honouring achievements in amateur theatre across the UK and Ireland, Hartlepool Stage Society won Best Pantomime alongside a sweep of additional performance accolades.
In the previous award cycle, the group walked away with the Best Musical gong for their critically acclaimed production of Little Shop of Horrors.
Now, the company is set to bring Shrek the Musical, based on the 2001 DreamWorks animated movie, to the stage.
It follows everyone’s favourite grumpy green ogre as he sets off on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty, independent Princess Fiona to reclaim his home from the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad.

A Hartlepool Stage Society spokesperson said: “Featuring a live orchestra, vibrant costuming, and a heartwarming message that celebrates individuality and friendship, the production is a vibrant reminder that true beauty comes from within – proving that sometimes, life is a little better when you peel back the layers and embrace your inner ogre.”
Donkey and Shrek will be played by Elijah James and Paul Robson, while Elizabeth Marshall takes on the role as Princess Fiona with the Hartlepool Stage Society ensemble making up the rest of the fairytale cast of creatures.
The musical also features the stories of the displaced characters like Pinocchio and Gingy the gingerbread man, told through high-energy song and dance.
Performances will take place at Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre from Thursday, June 18, through to Saturday, June 20, at 7pm with a 1.30pm Saturday matinee perfect for children and families.
Tickets are priced £18 adults and £15 concessions, and booking is now open through the Culture Hartlepool box office website.
