The restaurant, located on The Front, in Seaton Carew, enjoyed very good reviews for both its food and service on Tripadvisor but said on social media that “such a niche market was just too difficult to be commercially viable”

In a statement on Facebook, posted on Monday, March 9, the restaurant thanked staff and customers for their support during the last 14 months.

The post read: “We are very sad to announce that from today, we will be closing the Blu Lobster and would like to take this opportunity of thanking all our staff, customers and suppliers for their support over the 14 months that we have been in operation.

“Our final decision to close has been a difficult one, given that we were the proud owner operators of Hartlepool’s only dedicated seafood restaurant.

“And sadly, whilst every effort has been made to make the Blu Lobster a success, we feel that such a niche market was just too difficult to be commercially viable.
