The Government incentive, which launched on Monday, August 3 and is due to end at the end of the month, sees the cost of eat-in meals reduced between Mondays and Wednesdays.

Customers’ meals are reduced to half price, up to the value of £10 per head – not including alcohol.

Claire Moore: “No, the way some people go on is absolutely ridiculous! Rude to staff who are working twice as hard because not all staff are back at work! Moaning about the wait for a table or the wait for food.”

Georgina Richardson: “I wouldn’t mind it going on a little longer as a parent with low income I couldn’t afford to eat out with my family this has made it possible and the smile on my kids’ faces for going out is well worth it.”

Alison Cartwright: “It's been great for the businesses involved to help them get back on their feet and running but there are other businesses that now need the same level of help, such as the bus/coach industry.”

Bryan Littler: “It's been a great success. Not only have people used the scheme and the places they eat in have made money from it, but it stands to reason that the supply chain must also benefit from increased footfall, waitresses etc are getting extra hours and those who may struggle to afford to eat out are being given a great opportunity to do so.”

Charlotte Phillips: “Yes I think its a great opportunity for business to get a name for themselves your are more likely to eat in places u wouldn't normally eat because of it being half price and people are going to spend to help with the economy.”

Julie Waterman Kelly: “Totally enjoyed the family get togethers after being stuck in 12 weeks. Dining out with grandkids a lovely treat. So yes extend.”
