Hartlepool golf dome reopens with special day to thank key workers
A Hartlepool businessman is thanking the town’s key workers by opening up his new indoor mini golf centre to them – for free.
Steven Smith has just opened the new-look ‘Drive and Putt’ centre at the golf dome in Seaton Carew.
It has facilities including a nine-hole mini golf course, private driving range booths, snack bar and a childrens play area and opened after the lockdown last week.
There are hand sanitising stations and a track and trace system at the venue on Tees Road which already is home to Steven’s Body Doctors fitness business.
Now Steven has revealed plans to reserve a day especially for the heroes of the lockdown and it will be on Wednesday, August 19.
"I want to give something back,” he said. “I want to give something to the people who risked their lives for others during the lockdown.
"This is for anyone who qualifies as a key worker, the NHS workers, people who made sure the shops were open for us all, everyone.”
Speaking on social media, Steven hailed the ‘supermen and super women of this town, who deserve to be shown as much respect as we all can.
“The service will be free for you and your family to come down and enjoy some well deserved family time.”
Drive and Putt is open from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm from Monday to Thursday, 10am to 6pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
