The town's multiplex at The Lanyard has announced it will open again for business after five months on Wednesday, August 26.
It coincides with the release of the highly-anticipated new Christopher Nolan blockbuster Tenet.
A host of safety measures are being put in place to minimise the risk from Covid-19 including physically distanced seating, enhanced cleaning and staggered film times.
Vue stated on its website: “The health and safety of our customers and team is our top priority.
"We’ve been planning extensively for our reopening and have been working with authorities to implement wide-reaching new safety measures across all venues.
“We’re focusing on six key areas to ensure you, your family and friends, along with our teams, can join us as safely as possible.”
The measures also include enhanced online booking to minimise physical contact with staff, face coverings must be worn except when eating and drinking, and the number of touchpoints have been reduced with contactless payments encouraged.
All screens including seat armrests will be disinfected in between showings, and each member of staff will undergo two days of training.
Tickets for the cinema can be booked from Wednesday, August 12.
Tenet is currently the only film that Vue Hartlepool is listed to screen in its first week of reopening.
Starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, it is a time bending action epic set in a world of international espionage.
