Mobile traditional fish and chip seller applies to serve customers in these Hartlepool locations
Phillip Wilson, of Wilson’s Traditional Fish & Chips, has applied for consent to trade from his van at four separate locations each week in Hartlepool.
If successful, he will offer his wares from land off Newark Road on Tuesdays, Park Drive on Wednesdays and Osprey Way on Thursdays, all from 3pm to 8pm.

In his application to Hartlepool Borough Council, Mr Wilson, from Greatham, said: “As the van is one vehicle we can only occupy and trade at each single location. We are proposing set days for each location and will not move from that location once set up.”
Councillors on the authority’s Regulatory Sub-Committee will meet next week to decide whether to grant Mr Wilson a street trading licence to sell his fish and chips.
It comes as all of the proposed trading locations put forward by the applicant are in ‘consent streets’ and, as such, a consent is required to allow trading to take place there, according to council officers.

Initial consultation with council departments ahead of the meeting has highlighted several issues with the proposed streets to consider, according to the report from Sylvia Pinkney, council assistant director for regulatory services.
These include that Newark Road is owned by Hartlepool Borough Council and would require written permission from the council’s asset management team, while the location is also the access road to the power substation located there.
It notes Park Drive is private land and permission from the landowner would be required.

The report also states, at the applicant’s request, the hearing has been called at the ‘earliest possible opportunity’.
Therefore more information relating to the application may be provided by council officers or the applicant ahead of the hearing taking place, according to the report.
The regulatory sub-committee meeting will take place at 10am on Tuesday, September 29, and will be streamed live on YouTube by the ‘Hartlepool Council meeting videos’ channel.
