A licensing application has been submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council to screen films at land which is currently a fenced off hardstanding car park to the south of The Sports Domes off Tees Road in Seaton Carew

The proposals, submitted by OzSeeker Ltd, trading as Nightflix, state they want to gain permission to display films at the site from 9am until 2am seven days a week.

It would also give permission for the site to serve refreshments until 2am, although alcohol would not be allowed to be served.

The application states several steps will be taken to ensure the proposals would meet the licensing objectives, keeping people safe and preventing nuisance.

It said: “No one carrying open or sealed bottles, glasses or cans of any drink will be admitted to the premises, nor shall anyone be permitted to take open containers from the premises.

“The licence holder must ensure that a reasonable number of staff regularly patrol the premises to supervise the orderly conduct of patrons.

“Immediately after the end of each screening and prior to the commencement of another screening litter pickers shall take all reasonable efforts to remove all litter inside the event site and any external litter found outside the immediate vicinity of the site boundary.”

The application adds children will be supervised whilst on the site at all times and all film screenings will display official certifications from the British Board of Film Classification.

A CCTV system is also to be installed, operated and maintained to the satisfaction of the chief officer of police and shall be operational at all times whilst the premises are trading.

The application states Nightflix wants the premises licence to start on April 23.
