Win £500 makeover as generous Hartlepool salon seeks coronavirus lockdown hero

Vikki Ryan, who runs her own salon in Lister Street, is looking forward to being able to reopen for the first time in months in April in line with the Government’s road map out of lockdown.

But she also wants to give something back to the community after what has been a very tough year many of us with a complete makeover worth £500.

She is appealing for nominations of someone who has shone during the pandemic such as a key worker or someone who has been through a hard time and deserves a bit of pampering to receive the special prize.

Vikki, 35, said: “This has been something I have wanted to do for quite a few years, but just never gotten round to doing it with being really busy with the salon.

"Now lockdown has happened I feel more strongly about doing it, due to the hard times we have all faced this past year and would love for someone deserving have the ultimate makeover for free.

“I think it would be great for people to nominate someone they think deserves it, but they could nominate themselves if no one else can for them.”

The prize includes hair extensions costing roughly £305, a full head colour worth £60, nails and toes treatment (£35), lashes and brows (£55), make up (£25), and spray tan (£20).

Vikki has run the salon for the last nine years after previously being mobile and working from home.

She employs seven other members of staff.

Hairdressing salons in England have been closed since since January 5 but are set to reopen from Monday, April 12.

Vikki added: “I’m really excited to get back to work, to see all my amazing staff and ladies.

"I’ve also had some work done in the salon recently, all done by my dad, and I can’t wait for all our ladies to see it in person."
