The Hartlepool firm which is working with Rolls Royce to answer the UK's ventilator needs

A Hartlepool company has stepped in to help answer the UK’s need for more ventilators.

TT Electronics is helping Rolls-Royce to scale up the production of ventilators and the Hartlepool firm’s role has been to look after the electronics side.

Managing director Chris Short said: “As soon as the need became clear, our position to support Rolls-Royce, an existing TT customer, was a no-brainer.

“Over a three-week period, the team at our Hartlepool factory provided technical and test engineering expertise to deliver electronics assemblies moving from initial sampling to bulk production in record time.”

“Since the crisis began, TT has continued to operate within the Government safety guidelines and has taken steps to ensure our employees remain safe in the workplace, including social distancing, temperature checking and home working for those who can.

“Our employees are proud to be involved in this project and in supporting the NHS in some way during this national crisis.”

Rolls-Royce is a member of VentilatorChallengeUK which is a consortium of businesses who have come together to make ventilators for the UK.

Rolls-Royce called upon its suppliers to support a supply chain to scale up production of a specific ventilator and TT Hartlepool responded to the call for help.

It quickly deployed dedicated teams and resources to the project.

The VentilatorChallengeUK consortium has an order from the UK Government for 20,000 devices and the Hartlepool firm is providing electronic assemblies and power supplies.

But it is also helping globally in the supply chain for emergency medical equipment.

TT Electronics Hartlepool (formerly Stadium Group), was acquired by TT in April 2018. The site employs more than 100 people and has been in operation for over 35 years.

It provides electronic manufacturing solutions and power technologies for customers in the telematics, healthcare and industrial market sectors.

TT Electronics is a worldwide provider of engineered electronics for applications in the industrial, medical, and aerospace and defence sectors.
