Hide AdThe Hillcarter has been closed for just over a year after apparent legal notices were posted on the building in June last year.
It has remained boarded up since then.
They included a High Court Writ of Possession notice and a Notice of Obligation to Collect Goods said to be for or on behalf of Secure Capital SA, a Luxembourg-based mortgage company.
The Hillcarter began life as a department store in the late 1800s named after two businessmen.
The Hartlepool History Then and Now website states it became Blackett’s department store sometime during the Second World War until 1970 when it closed.
