New housing estate of 250 family homes to be built near Wingate village

National planning and development consultancy Lichfields secured permission from Durham County Council for the new properties – which will be located south of High Grange Way, Wingate – on behalf of housebuilder Bellway Homes.
There will be a mix of two, three and four-bedroomed properties, with 10% being classed as affordable.

Lichfields’ associate director, Jennifer Heron, said: “We are delighted to have secured planning permission.
“The development offers a mix of house types and sizes, and will meet the housing needs of many different groups in the community.
“It will also support a range of economic benefits, including the generation of construction jobs, support to local businesses, increased local expenditure in the area and revenue to the council through increased council tax receipts and relevant new Homes Bonus payments.”
