Work restarts on Hartlepool new housing development restarts after being halted due to lockdown

Construction of Seaton Meadows, featuring a mix two, three and four-bedroom homes, on land off Seaton Lane is well underway.

Town development firm Port Homes had to down tools for a while during the coronavirus lockdown.

But work is back underway and the first four homes have been reserved.

The development is being built in two phases on land either side of Golden Meadows.

Phase one, currently underway, comprises 27 homes homes.

Sales manager Fay Garthwaite said: “The first four reservations have been taken on the scheme.

“We have been on site for around three months but had to stop building for a while, however we completed two sales while in lockdown.

“Phase one is now under construction with the first completion and show house anticipated to be ready this October.

“The joists went in on the first plots.

“We are now out for sale and have got Help To Buy funding and a range of early bird incentives.”

The homes will be a mixture of terrace, semi-detached and detached properties.

Planning Permission for the development was given the go ahead by Hartlepool Borough Council in March.

The applicants said the development will contribute to addressing Hartlepool’s housing shortfall.

The developer added its location is ideal for people of all ages and benefits from being close to Seaton Carew, Tees Bay Retail Park, the A689 and A19.

On their website they added: “This ideally situated development is perfect for first time buyers, second steppers and families looking to purchase a new, spacious and exciting home.”

Port Homes recently ran a competition inviting children to help design the garden for Seaton Meadows’ showhome.

Based on Hartlepool’s Queens Meadow Business Park, the company was founded in 2017 by brothers Christopher and Daniel Port.

They were responsible for the nearby St Teresa’s Close 20-home development on the site of the former Catholic church.

The company is sponsoring the Adult Carer of the Year Award at this year’s virtual Hartlepool Pride in Carers Awards.
