Five Hartlepool secondary schools' open evenings cancelled due to coronavirus

Open evenings for parents and new pupils at Hartlepool secondary schools have been cancelled due to coronavirus.

The evenings were all scheduled for Year 6 primary students who will be transferring to the schools in the autumn of 2021.

All five of the secondary schools will now be putting up information on their websites in videos and other formats, for pupils and their parents to view.

Parents are invited to make direct contact the schools if they then have any questions.

The information will be put up live on the websites from the dates on which the open evenings were due to take place, which were as follows:

St Hild’s Church of England School, Thursday, October 1, Manor Community Academy, Monday, October 5; English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College, Tuesday, October 15; High Tunstall College of Science, Thursday, October 15; and Dyke House Sports & Technology College, Tuesday, October 20.

In a joint statement, the headteachers of the secondary schools said: “We are disappointed that we will not be able to invite Year 6 pupils to our schools and showcase all the fantastic work that is going on.

“However, we would like to invite Year 6 pupils and their parents to look at our websites to find out further information regarding each school and to contact us to request further information if they require it.
