What Hartlepool's leaders say as North East faces new coronavirus restrictions

The college statement said: “This morning (September 17) we have had confirmation from a student who has been into college that they have tested positive for Covid-19.

"A friend who travelled in the same car is awaiting their test results.

“We have asked the class in question and their tutor to self-isolate, along with some other individual members of staff who have had extended contact with them.

“This self-isolation is precautionary and at this point nobody else has reported symptoms.

“The building is cleaned vigorously every day and we are confident that our robust track and trace process has identified anybody who needed to be contacted.

“Please do not come into college if you or anybody in your household has any of the above symptoms, and please contact us to let us know if this is the case.”

The news comes as measures to combat Covid-19 are being applied by the Government to local authority areas across the North East, although Hartlepool is not among the places affected.
