Coronavirus precautions for Hartlepool vs Ebbsfleet United: Pools and Fleet players and officials told not to shake hands

Players and match officials at this weekend’s Hartlepool United game will not shake hands as part of efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Pools take on Ebbsfleet United at Victoria Park on Saturday, March 7.

In response to the rise in cases of Covid 19 in the UK, the National League has received communication from The Football Association in relation to handshakes at games.

A statement on the official Pools website hartlepoolunited.co.uk states: “In light of the government’s campaign, and as a precaution, pre-match ‘fair play’ handshakes between players and match officials will not take place in The National League until further notice.

“Similarly, customary handshakes between captains and match officials ahead of kick-off will not be required.”

However, Hartlepool United are encouraging fans to pack the game out as the club looks to build on a recent run of good results.
