Hartlepool streets like a ghost town as lockdown takes hold

Normally bustling streets in Hartlepool have become almost deserted as the coronavirus lockdown begins to take effect.

The Mail’s chief photographer Frank Reid has been out and about every day this week capturing the changing landscape as people adjust to a totally different way of life.

Most businesses have been forced to close and many usually busy routes are very quiet as more of us work from home.
