Are people keeping to Government guidance: 17 pictures of Hartlepool during the warm weather

The weather took a turn for the better at the weekend with spring sunshine making a welcome appearance.

It was feared that the rise in temperatures could lead to people breaking the Government guidelines to stay indoors.

But residents in Hartlepool appear to have been largely sticking to the rules and staying at home this weekend, despite it being the warmest of the year so far.

Popular warm weather locations such as the Headlands promenade, Seaton Beach and Rossmere Park were deserted on Sunday, April 5, as people stayed at home to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus.

The weekend was expected to the the warmest of the year so far, prompting Health Secretary Matt Hancock to announce that sunbathing in public was not allowed as part of government’s social distancing rules.

People are still permitted to undertake one form of exercise a day, such a run, walk or cycle, but more stringent measures have not been ruled out.
