Hide AdIt comes as the council's bosses focus on core services during the initial three-week lockdown, which was announced on Monday by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in a bid to restrict people moving around and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
The council runs a Tuesday to Friday collection regime each week at all times, which means bank holiday Mondays have no impact on the service.
Across East Durham, Durham County Council has closed its tips 13, including one at Horden, in Sunderland Road, and at Thornley Crossings Industrial Estate in Salters Lane, until further notice.
