The whole team of 70 workers at Bridgman IBC spent all weekend working on an order for 92 timber doorsets destined for the NHS Nightingale Hospital at the NEC in Birmingham.

It’s a job which would normally take four to six weeks but senior manager Jim Greensmith told the Hartlepool Mail: “It is a huge thank you to our suppliers and their staff for all their extraordinary efforts.

“We are extremely proud to do our bit for the NHS.”

Bridgman IBC, which is based in Greatham Street in Hartlepool, shared social media posts at the weekend to say it was appointed by Interserve – a multinational group of support services and construction companies based in the UK.

Bridgman IBC received the request on Saturday to manufacture the doorsets and planned to have the whole order completed in around 48 hours.

Jim added: “We worked Saturday and Sunday and come today, we will have had 70 people working on the project.”

Bosses have committed to fast track the pre-hung doorsets for a delivery to site on Tuesday.

The company is a leading UK manufacturer and supplier of fire rated doors, doorsets, glazed screens and washroom systems.

It predominantly works in sectors such as health and education and is providing doorsets which are treated to kill 99.9 per cent of bacteria.

Jim said: “We were asked if we wanted to take this order on and we were extremely proud to be a part of it.”

The NHS Nightingale site on the outskirts of Birmingham will initially have a 500-bed capacity which can be scaled up to about 1,500 or more if needed.
