Hartlepool Borough Council's Leisure, Recreation and Participation Team have been posting daily videos on their social media channels this week for people to follow while in their own homes.

They teamed up with Zac Healey of Hartlepool’s award-winning crew Ruff Diamond Academy for a street dance challenge on Friday, March 27.

Zac invited viewers to mirror a number of dance moves in the seven-minute workout before putting them all together in one routine.

A series of fun exercise videos led by coaches from the participation team have also proved a hit with viewers.

They were put together after all leisure centres and classes run by the participation team across Hartlepool were closed by the coronavirus measures.

Participation Team manager Ryan Houghton said: “We got people messaging us saying they really missed doing pilates and dancercise.

“The aim is to keep people of all ages active and entertained throughout the day and also boost morale.

“We’ve had a number of different videos by our coaches and asked Zac to do some partnership work with ourselves to give people a bit of a challenge.

“We have some more in the pipeline so we can keep giving people their daily fix.”

One video received more than 8,000 views. Online workout videos, including those by celebrities like Joe Wicks have proved incredibly popular since the start of the UK’s lockdown this week.
