How to apply for benefits online during coronavirus restrictions

Hartlepool council chiefs have issued advice on how people can apply for benefits online during the coronavirus outbreak.

A number of council buildings have been closed to help limit the potential spread of the virus and the civic centre reception will only deal with critical inquiries from Monday, March 23.

People can apply for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support and Free School Meals through the council’s website at https://www.hartlepool.gov.uk/housingbenefit

Customers can also post any supporting information or paper documents relating to their claim in a drop off box in reception at the Civic Centre which will be forwarded to the council's Benefits Team on a daily basis.
