Over 47,000 now double jabbed in Hartlepool

Nearly two-thirds of people in Hartlepool have now received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, latest figures reveal.

NHS data shows 47,630 people in the area had received both jabs by July 4 – 63% of those aged over 16.

Of those to have received both jabs, 46,264 were over 25 – 69% of the age group – and 1,366 people aged between 16 to 25 have received both doses.

The data also shows that 61,029 people in Hartlepool have now received at least one dose of a vaccine – 80% of those over 16.

The NHS vaccine data also shows an area by area variation in coverage for residents who are fully vaccinated in the area.

The areas with the highest coverage are The Fens, Elwick and Hart, where 76.3% of people aged 16 and over are fully vaccinated.

Next comes Seaton Carew on 72.1% and Wooler Road on 71.9%.

The areas with the lowest coverage are Harbour and Victoria (48.2%), Old Town and Grange (51.6%) and Foggy Furze (53.5%)

In England, 28.2 million people had received a second dose of the jab by July 4 – 62% of over 16s and 69% of those over aged 25 and over.

In total, 37.8 million people had received at least one dose of a vaccine – 83% of people.

The figures also show 736 out of 1,016 care home staff in the area had received two doses by July 4 – meaning 28% have not been fully vaccinated.

The Government plans to make the jab mandatory for staff.
