Staff member at Hartlepool's Tesco Extra tests positive for coronavirus

Tesco has confirmed that a member of staff at the Tesco Extra Store in Hartlepool has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now self-isolating.
The supermarket said that the store is following all Government guidance, with Covid-19 safety measures in place across its stores.

Hide AdA Tesco spokeswoman said: “A colleague at our Hartlepool Extra store has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating.
"The safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers remains our number one priority and we are following all Government guidance and taking the relevant precautions.
"We have extensive measures across all of our stores to help keep everyone safe, including protective screens at every checkout, social distancing signage and regular deep cleaning.”

Floor markings in car parks to help customers to maintain safe distances when queuing to enter the store and floor markings inside to help everyone keep a safe distance while waiting to pay. Hand sanitisers are placed around stores for customers and colleagues to use, as well as extra cleaning products for customers to wipe down their trolley or basket. Protective screens have been installed at every checkout. Some stores have separate entrances and exits, so that it’s easier to keep a safe distance from other shoppers. Customers are encouraged to use card and contactless payment methods.
