Covid-19 cases in Hartlepool have jumped up over the festive period, with 1,449 infections recorded in the seven days up to December 30.
In comparison, 558 coronavirus cases were confirmed in the town in the week up to December 23.
Despite the surge in cases, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said there is a “good chance” of getting through the Omicron wave without further restrictions and “without the need certainly for a lockdown.”
