The statistics, published on Friday, May 1 give a breakdown of the total number of deaths within the town for the first time.
According to the figures 59 deaths have been confirmed in Hartlepool and East Durham.

Hide AdOverall Rifthouse and Summerhill, and Wooler Road are the worst hit areas of Hartlepool, with five deaths recorded each up until April 17.No deaths were recorded in Foggy Furze and only one in Headland and West View and Owton Manor.
Hartlepool still has the lowest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the region.
In East Durham, Peterlee has been hit with 14 deaths in the time period, while Horden has five.
The ONS data only includes deaths which occurred between March, 1- April 17 where coronavirus was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributing factor.
