Three out of five in Hartlepool now double jabbed

Three out of five people in Hartlepool have now received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, new figures reveal.

NHS data shows 48,127 people had received both jabs by June 20 – 61% of those aged 16 and over in the area.

Of those, 44,805 were aged 25 and over – 68% of the age group and 1,322 people aged between 16 to 25 have also received both doses.

In Hartlepool 76% of those aged 16 and over have now had one jab.

The data also reveals an area by area variation in coverage for those who had received at least one dose.

The areas with the highest coverage are The Fens, Elwick and Hart, where 89.3% of people aged 16 and over given their first dose.

Next comes Wooler Road on 86.1% and Seaton Carew on 85.4%.

The areas with the lowest coverage are Harbour and Victoria (60.9%), Old Town and Grange (64.2%) and Foggy Furze (66.1%).

Nationally, 26.4 million people had received a second dose of the jab by June 20 – 58% of over 16s.

That includes 25.6 million people aged 25 and over – 65% of the age group.

In total, 35.9 million people had received at least one dose of a vaccine by the same date – covering 79% of over 16s.

Some staff at care homes in the area have still not been vaccinated.

The figures show 858 out of 1,010 eligible staff, including agency workers, had received a first dose by June 20 – meaning 15% have not had a jab.
