Hartlepool United supporting local NHS workers on Restart a Heart Day
Hartlepool United is teaming up with health workers to help more people across the town learn life-saving CPR skills.
The club and University Hospitals Tees are joining forces this Restart a Heart Day.
Residents are invited to attend Hartlepool United on Monday, October 19, to meet experts from the Health and Social Care Academy, based at the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
They will learn simple CPR techniques and find out what to do in the event of a cardiac arrest.

As a thank you for taking part, everyone who attends the session will be gifted two free match tickets for the Pools’ National League home game against Hornchurch on Saturday, October 24.
Teresa Pounder, University Hospitals Tees’ education and training partner, said: “As a person who has administered CPR to a member of my close family, I can attest that you never know when you may need these skills.
“By working together as a community, we can help ensure more people have the confidence to act in an emergency and potentially save a life.”
The informal drop-in session will take place at Hartlepool United, in Clarence Road, between 10am and 1pm in the Hart of Our Club 1908 Lounge.
No previous experience is needed, and there is no formal classroom teaching.
People can stay for as long as they wish and club mascot H’Angus the monkey will also be there.
The collaboration is part of the Health and Social Care Academy’s and Hartlepool’ United’s commitment to working alongside local organisations and communities to share practical health knowledge and skills.
Keith Nobbs, manager of United for The Community, said: “By joining the Restart a Heart campaign, we are equipping our neighbours, families, and friends with the simple, life-saving CPR skills needed to protect one another. When we learn together, we save lives together.”
Teresa and her colleagues will also be taking the training out into the community over the coming weeks.
Alongside some Hartlepool United players and H'Angus, they will be attending a local football camp for parents and carers on Monday, October 26, and a disability football carers group on Tuesday, October 27.
The Health and Social Care Academy will also be at the HUFC v Wealdstone game on November 14 to give fans the opportunity to have a go at CPR.
