The neighbourhoods in Hartlepool where Covid infections fell the fastest in the first week of February

Is the latest lockdown in Hartlepool working?

Official Government figures show that since the start of January the seven-day rate of positive Covid cases per 100,000 people in Hartlepool has dropped from 798.6 (on January 1) to 226.3 (on February 4).

Hartlepool has now been in a lockdown for almost six weeks - but are coronavirus cases falling everywhere?

The latest figures show ten out of 12 neighbourhoods in Hartlepool have seen a drop in infections in the latest seven-day period. Only two, Wooler Road and Foggy Furze have experienced an increase in infections, with rates rising by 20% and 33% respectively.

Here we reveal which neighbourhoods have seen the biggest drop in case rates per 100,000 people between Thursday, January 28 and Thursday, February 4.

The case rate takes into account the number of people living in each area compared to the number of people who have tested positive for the virus and are measured by 100,000 people.

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two). Pictures are for illustrative purposes only.
