Here’s where you can get a Covid-19 test in Hartlepool over the next two weekends

A mobile drive-through testing unit operated by the Department of Health and Social Care will be up and running at the Hartlepool Waterfront (former Jackson’s Landing) site from Friday, October 16 up to and including Tuesday, October 20, and again from Friday, October 23, up to Sunday, October 25.

A new walk-through testing facility is also running every day in the Grayfields car park off Jesmond Gardens.

But Hartlepool Borough Council is reminding people that must book a test first at either location.

Craig Blundred, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Acting Director of Public Health, said: “If you have one or more of the Coronavirus symptoms, don’t delay – please book a test right away, which is why it’s important to remember that you can get a test in Hartlepool over the weekend, as well as during the week.

“Thank you to everyone who has booked a test so far – you’ve played a vital part in helping to fight the Coronavirus and protect our most vulnerable members of the community, like grandma and grandad.”

People should seek a test if they have any of the symptoms of the virus and can book a test by going online at www.gov.uk/coronavirus or calling 119.

Appointment slots are released throughout the day so if you are not able to immediately obtain a local testing appointment, try again later in the day. Home testing kits can also be ordered.

If someone in your household starts to have symptoms, that person must get tested and the rest of the household should self-isolate with them while they wait for the results.

Only people with symptoms should get tested and most people who are tested in person get their results within 24 hours.

The council says a negative test result does not mean you can end isolation or quarantine early as the virus can take time to develop and a person could still be at risk of spreading the disease to other people.

Another 60 new cases in Hartlepool were reported on Thursday, October 15, but the weekly rolling case rate per 100,000 of the population fell slightly.
