Nostalgic scenes from the Durham Miners Gala as the 'Big Meeting' gets ready to go online

There’s a new look to the Durham Miners Gala this year with plans for an online Big Meeting.

And officials are planning to have the Gala back in its usual format by 2021 when the pandemic is hopefully over.

In the meantime, let’s take a look at some Hartlepool Mail archive photos showing banners and bands at the annual favourite.

We are hoping they will bring back wonderful memories of a great event which attracts thousands of people every year.
