How about the pub which was built by brewery staff? Or the one which had three names.
What about the pub which once had a tightrope act on its roof.
We can share them with you – as well as some wonderful photographs – courtesy of the Hartlepool Museum Service and Hartlepool Library Service.
The pubs of Hartlepool have some wonderful backgrounds and here is your chance to take a look.
1. The pub with a tightrope tale
The Atlantic Hotel was in Surtees Street, said the Hartlepool Museum Service. It added that in 1870, Charles Blondin walked a tightrope from the Atlantic to the nearby market roof in Lynn Street, according to The Lion Roars and the Monkey Bites by Marie-Louise McKay. 2. The pub which had three names
The Birds Nest in Mainsforth Terrace. It was previously called The Palace from 1904, before this being named Stein's Hotel. It was demolished in 1996. Photo: Hartlepool Library Service Photo: Hartlepool Library Service
3. The pub with the same name as two others in town
Here is the Commercial in Northgate. It had the same name as two other pubs in town and they were all open at the same time for a while. The others were in Lynn Street and Middleton. Photo: Hartlepool Museum Service. Photo: Hartlepool Museum Service
4. The pub in a village which doesn't exist any more
