Autumn boost for Hartlepool home owners

The boost brought the average house price in the area to £109,497 in September – contributing to a longer-term trend which has seen property prices in the area grow by 0.9% annually.

Land Registry figures show prices in September increase by three per cent on August, better then the North East average of 2.8%, and the national 1.7% rise.

Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Hartlepool rose by £920 – putting the area seventh among the North East’s 12 local authorities for annual growth.

Owners of detached houses in Hartlepool saw the biggest improvement in property prices in September.

Sale prices increased by 3.7%, to £188,514 on average – meaning that, over the last year, prices rose by 1.7%.

The price being paid for a semi-detached rose by 2.6% on the month - up 1.2% annually to an average of £112,818.

The cost of a terraced house went up by 2.8% on August – up 0.1% annually to £78,986 on average.

Flats prices rose by 2.8% on the month – but were down 2.2% annually to £60,196 on average.

First-time buyers in Hartlepool spent an average of £​92,410 on their property – ​£580 more than a year ago, ​and ​£5,150 more than in September 2015.

The average price for a home on the North East in September was £136,262 – a rise of 3.3% on the month.

The most expensive properties in the North East were in Newcastle – £171,000 on average.
