Hartlepool Motorsport roars back into action with first socially distanced event at Teesside Airport

Motorsport got back on track in the area for the first time since the lockdown and was a roaring success.

The first run of Hartelepool and District Motor Club's socially distanced Autotest was held at Teesside Airport's Power House Complex.

In all 28 cars competed over a loose surface test area and although social distancing was in force it did nothing to dampen spirits.

In Autotest, drivers in modified cars perform a series of impressive manoeuvres including handbrake turns as they negotiate the cone marked course in the fastest time possible.

The competition was very close and led to some exciting driving. A few competitors had some "off's" and one driver, Tom Hall, even had a wheel fall off.

Ray McGough, of CRS Photosport, said: “Motorsport UK sent a representative to observe an everyone had a great day.

PPE was supplied as were ample sanitation stations so it proved competition could still take place in these uncertain times.

“A great day was had by all and we are looking forward to the next event in October.”

First overall was Lee Valentine in his stunning Vauxhall Nova followed by Tom Hall in second his rapid Mini, until the wheel fell off, and 3rd overall went to Callum Craddy in his two thirds MR 2.
