Last call for volunteers to support £40,000 Wearside and Hartlepool charity challenge

Darren Cliff from Ambers Law in Sunderland and Micky Day from Miles for Men in Hartlepool have teamed up their charities to attempt to raise £40,000.

A last call has gone out for Hartlepool, East Durham and Wearside people to support a charity challenge which will raise money for a respite home for people with cancer.

A sponsored walk on Saturday, September 12 will see people from the North East climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

Darren Cliff from Ambers Law in Sunderland and Micky Day from Miles for Men in Hartlepool have teamed up their charities to attempt to raise £40,000.

That is the target they have set to buy a caravan which will be used as a respite home for people with cancer and their families.

Miles for Men representatives collect the Community Group of the Year trophy at the 2019 Best of Hartlepool Awards.

They are hoping dozens of people will support them on this weekend’s walk.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge is a 25-mile circular route which includes climbing the summit of Pen-y-Ghent (2227 ft), Whernside (2415 ft) and Ingleborough (2372 ft) in less than 12 hours.

Micky explained that the caravan would be based at Crimdon and called for people to join in the walk.

He urged people to ‘get in touch with the charity today or tomorrow and registration is £30.”

Miles for Men collected the 2019 Community Group of the Year trophy at the Best of Hartlepool Awards for its sterling efforts to support local people.

The campaigners behind the Amber’s Law project are helping to save lives worldwide in memory of Amber Rose Cliff, who lost her life to cervical cancer at the age of 25.
