Hartlepool’s Aldi branch has welcomed back shoppers after being closed for almost two weeks for a refurbishment.

Dunston Road Aldi in Hartlepool has reopened on Thursday, February 11 after being transformed as part of the supermarket chain’s £500m investment into further improving its stores and services across the UK.

The store employs 28 people, but the refurbishment has created two new roles.

Aldi closed down the Dunston Road branch for a revamp on January 31 and says its new look will “make shopping easier for Hartlepool customers and the store will now have more space and clearer signs to make shopping effortless.”

Covid safety measures are also in place, including sanitisation stations on entry, Perspex screens at its tills and social distancing reminders in store, as well as a traffic light system to control the number of people going in and out of the store.

Customers can also take a walk down the ‘Aisle of Aldi’, where they will find legendary Specialbuys which are available every Thursday and Sunday.
