A land I love

How can I not love this England,

Knowing that England loves me?

The first breath I took of English air

Was seasoned by salt from her sea.

From that moment on I was English,

I could never be anything else.

Pure air from her mountains and valleys

Filled my lungs with exhilarating health.

England’s rivers run through my arteries,

Her dappled streams through my veins.

Her mountains, moors and valleys green

Inspired my love of competitive games.

Her four seasons, the envy of the world,

Have a function and each knows its place.

Just like her children each has a role,

A part to play in a land of amazing grace.
