Accrington manager John Coleman said he was confident the game, which has already been rearranged for tomorrow night, would go ahead if the weather remained positive.

He said: “I have been out on the pitch and if we could play now it would be on.”

Stanley have not played a home fixture since mid-November due to the weather, but it is expected the fixture with Hartepool will go ahead.

Coleman said: “We haven’t had a lot of luck with the weather, lots of our games which have been postponed could have been played the day before or the day after although that possibly wouldn’t have been the case with Saturday.

“If we can get enough protection, we are positive but we are in the lap of the Gods. We’re hoping it isn’t as cold as it has been over the weekend.”

The news will be warmly greeted by Hartlepool manager Ronnie Moore who will be hoping to build on Saturday’s 1-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers.
