Act now and stop arguing

As the late great Terry-Thomas might have said: 'What a shower, an absolute shower!'

I refer to Mark Payne’s item (Mail, September 1) about the so-called “war of words” over the absent A&E department at the University Hospital of Hartlepool.

This issue seems to have truly become a bandwagon for many, not only possibly for UKIP.

I feel confident in saying that what the vast majority of Hartlepool residents want is action and not words.

Such argy-bargies may suit the self-interests of some so-called public servants, but they don’t suit us – the people that put them in those positions.

In mentioning those Coun Riddle claims deserve the “credit” for spearheading the campaign to reinstate the A&E department, it’s worth noting that the name of our esteemed MP was absent.

Given that Hartlepool Borough Council has failed to provide adequate toilet facilities in the town, I remain pessimistic about its success regarding the hospital.

In essence, it’s time for the vacuous arguing to stop and some real action to start.

If that’s not asking too much.
