Money raised will go to those children that need Barnardo’s help the most, with every bag donated to Barnardo’s helping fund local projects in the North East.

Barnardo’s support vulnerable children and young people who are living in poverty, have suffered abuse or those as young as five who care for a sick or disabled relative.

Actress and Barnardo’s supporter, Jo Joyner, best known for her roles in EastEnders, Ordinary Lies, Trying Again and Marley’s Ghosts, is supporting the charity’s appeal for clothing, footwear and accessories like jewellery, belts and handbags.

She said: “I am really happy to be supporting Barnardo’s spring retail campaign this year. I enjoy a ‘spring clear out’ and regularly visit my local Barnardo’s store and donate belongings that I no longer use.

“Instead of throwing things away, we can give them to Barnardo’s to raise cash to help the most disadvantaged children in the UK. It really will make a difference and make you feel good too!”

Barnardo’s Director for the East Region, Steve Oversby said: “Each year we are overwhelmed by the volume and quality of donations kind-hearted people bring to our shops. With their continued support we can ensure that the funds raised will help transform the lives of those children who desperately need our help and support.”
