Appeal after firefighters tackle deliberate car blaze

Firefighters have issued a warning after crews were called to tackle a deliberate car fire.

Crews from Peterlee fire station were called to the Shotton Colliery area on Friday night (June 18) after a car was set on fire.

County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service have confirmed that the incident was arson and are working with police in Peterlee on an investigation into the incident.

It comes as firefighters in Peterlee warn that such incidents ‘tie up valuable resources from both the fire service and police,’ who carried out a leaflet drop and door-to-door enquiries following the blaze.
