Appeal for witness to smash which left driver trapped in Transit van

A van driver was treated in hospital after he had to be cut free following a collision with a car.

The incident happened on Seal Sands Road in Billingham just after 5.30pm yesterday.

Firefighters from the nearby station used cutting equipment in the rescue after the 29-year-old was trapped by the wreckage.

Police are now appealing for information as they investigate what happened to cause the crash between the Ford Transit Van and a Honda Accord.

The driver was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where he received treatment for minor injuries and he was later released.

The 40-year-old woman driver of the Honda was uninjured.
